Meet the Optometrists

  • Dr. James E. Bruns

    Dr. Bruns attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa and the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii. He received his Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. Having attended many postgraduate courses he has also been the recipient of the Optometric Recognition Award for several years. Many courses have been taken at the University of California at Berkeley to receive diagnostic and therapeutic drug certification. He is a past president of the Redwood Empire Optometric Society. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, Optometric Extension Program, and the Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce. He has been a member of Rotary International for several years. He is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and is Board Certified in Vision Development and Therapy.

  • Dr. Tiffanie Yu

    Dr. Yu graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience. She obtained her doctorate of optometry at UC Berkeley and is board certified to treat glaucoma and ocular diseases. She completed a number of externships at the Crow Indian Health Service in Montana, UC Santa Cruz, Alameda County Medical Center, and Rohnert Park Health Center. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association.

  • Dr. Mina Chen

    Dr. Chen received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from UC Santa Barbara. After college she worked for an optometry practice in San Francisco, which is where she fell in love with the profession. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York in Manhattan. During this time she became a member of VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) and served on a mission trip in Nicaragua. This experience of providing eye care for a community in need has permanently shaped her approach to compassionate patient care. She completed rotations at SUNY Specialty Contact Lens, New York Vision Group, SUNY College of Optometry, and the Southern Arizona VA Hospital. She returned to NYC after optometry school to in Rockefeller Center. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association.
    Dr. Chen is excited to offer full scope of care at North Bay Vision Center, including treating ocular diseases like glaucoma and fitting specialty contact lenses. She’s very happy to return home to California and the beautiful Sonoma wine country. Her favorite activities are swimming, hiking with her pup, eating delicious foods and traveling with her fiance Ian.
